Employment Specialist/Job Coach
The Center for Independent Living in Central Florida, Inc. (CIL-CF) employment program is seeking a qualified individual with job development and job coaching skills to join an outstanding team providing high quality employment placement services in Central Florida to individuals with disabilities. Under the direction of the employment program manager this person will coordinate and implement activities to support sustainable job placement. The hours of employment will generally be Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:30 – 2:30 but can include early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed therefore candidates must have scheduling flexibility to meet the changing needs of the department. This includes dividing their time between our Lakeland and Winter Park offices. Candidate must pass a drug test and Level 2 background screening in order to be eligible for this position.
Position Description CIL-CF employment program is designed to help individuals with disabilities obtain employment in the community in the job of their choice. The incumbent will provide support services to successfully place consumers in gainful employment. This includes: developing individualized employment plans; providing pre-employment skills training; performing individualized outreach to employers; completing applications and job analyses; and coaching after placement. Incumbent will develop and maintain successful partnerships with Vocational Rehabilitation and Agency for persons with disabilities counselors to support ongoing services.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population. Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel extensively in the Central Florida area. The knowledge of Federal and State labor laws and regulations relevant to persons with disabilities including: Americans with Disabilities Act, Equal Opportunity Employment; laws and regulations governing federally funded programs; economic and labor market conditions and trends for central Florida job market; computer skills for the development of resumes, cover letters, correspondence, and record keeping. Required Education and Experience –
Bilingual, English/Spanish - preferred
BA Degree in Behavioral or Social Science, Human Services Business Administration, psychology sociology; along with two years of experience in job placement, job coaching, job training or public vocational rehabilitation program working with persons with disabilities;
Certificates of completion of APD supported employment training or be able to earn certifications within 3 months of employment
