Orange County Government in Orlando, Florida is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity in their Health Services Corrections Division. We are seeking a motivated, high energy, self-starter to serve in the role of Nursing Unit Supervisor. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, this position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a designated nursing unit which includes ensuring quality patient care is being provided in accordance with established nursing practices and procedures.

Representative Duties

Directs and oversees the activities of LPNs, RNs, and other assigned staff. Duties include but are not limited to:

Instructing, educating and reviewing the work of others.
Maintaining standards of the division.
Directing personnel to include work assignments, counseling and corrective discipline.
Preparing work schedules.
Acting on inmate and employee problems.
Assists staff with the completion of med passes, physical assessments, and sick calls.
Maintain employee records, which would include accurate attendance records, documented poor work habits and corrective discipline issues, and efficiency reports.
Holds monthly staff meetings and makes daily rounds of assigned areas.
Assist physicians, nurses and other staff in the provision of care.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, medicine and/or any related allied health profession and four years as a registered nurse with at least two of those years as a nurse supervisor or director of nursing. Directly related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis. Must possess a current Florida license as a registered nurse. Must be able to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
