Job Description:
Although specifics can vary, general tasks often include:
Interpretation of the desired outcome into a detailed plan that can be implemented by a project team
Assist in planning and forecasting of the project
Assist in acquisition of appropriate staff, materials, and equipment
Liaising with contractors, suppliers and internal company stakeholders
Assist with keeping the project on schedule
Assist with keeping the project on budget
Assist in management of the project team
Ongoing reporting of the project progress
Ensuring that all aspects of the project proceed while adhering to internal company SOPs as well as external regulations and laws – this includes maintenance of project documentation
Troubleshooting problems as they arise on a project – finding efficient and effective solutions
HS Diploma or equivalent. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Structural/Civil Engineering, or Business may substitute for 3 years of required experience. Experience as a fabricator or erector may substitute for detailing/drafting experience. Structural steel experience required
Work Experience:
1-3 years related experience as a Project Coordinator/Engineer or Assistant Project Manager in the structural steel industry along with 1-3 years detailing/drafting/computer modeling.
Specialized Knowledge:
General knowledge of fabrication and erection standards and procedures. General knowledge of AISC standards and AWS codes. Ability to read and interpret shop and design blueprint drawings. Ability to manage large multiple commercial and industrial projects. General knowledge of 3D modeling/Tekla system. Ability to assist in managing multiple projects while meeting stringent deadlines.
Software, Technology and Equipment Used:
Personal computer, phone. Software includes: MS Windows, MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook, Contract Manager, Primavera Scheduling, AutoCAD, Fabsuite, and Tekla System.
Work Environment:
Position requires as many hours needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions. Working long days including evenings and weekends can be required for this position. This position is generally indoors in a climate controlled office. However, frequent visitations to the outdoor plant facilities will be required.
