Starting Salary:
Carpenter I
$16.85 - 21.48 per hour, depending on qualifications
Grade L03
Carpenter II
$17.87 - 22.78 per hour, depending on qualifications
Grade L04
Carpenter III
$18.94 - 24.14 per hour, depending on qualifications
Grade L05
Nature of Work:
Performs skilled, journey level carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of wooden articles, equipment and structures. Work assignments are ordinarily received orally or in the form of sketches, blueprints, or written instructions. The employee applies carpentry trade knowledge and skill in completing work assignments, which are reviewed by a supervisor by direct observation while in progress and upon completion.
Minimum Requirements
Carpenter I: High School Diploma or equivalent and two years experience in carpentry, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Carpenter II: Same of Carpenter I, above, except requires four years as specified.
Carpenter III: High School Diploma or equivalent and six years experience as a skilled journey level Carpenter in all phases of commercial building construction; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess Journey Level Carpentry competency card or certificate completion from a Carpentry Trade or Vocational School. Valid Florida driver license required.
DOCUMENTATION OF JOURNEY CARD, TRADE-SCHOOL COMPLETION, OR EQUIVALENT MUST BE PROVIDED WITH APPLICATION IN ORDER TO QUALIFY AT THE CARPENTER III LEVEL.
VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PROVIDED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT.
