Volunteer Services & Entertainment Director

SUMMARY OF OVERALL PURPOSE
Oversees and directs all aspects of the Volunteer Services and Entertainment programs, events, and venues, ensuring a safe and memorable experience for guests, volunteers, and staff.
Ensure all entertainment venues and events have appropriate volunteer coverage.
Coordinate volunteer groups as appropriate.
Confirm ride and show experiences meet Village standards as well as state inspection requirements for safety.
Create and execute first class daily event experiences for guests, volunteers, and participants that are age appropriate.
Maintain entertainment equipment, vehicles, tools, and program items at highest level of quality and controlled inventory.
Collaborate with the Volunteer Services and Entertainment Managers to provide direction, leadership and support to all departmental staff that mirror the mission and core values of the organization.
Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development.
Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments.
Drive continuous improvements in the effectiveness and efficiency of the Entertainment and Volunteer Services teams.
Ensure adequate staffing is in place to manage over 1700 volunteer shifts weekly.
Entertainment Events Management
Key liaison with all departments, outside vendors, and stakeholders regarding all GKTW signature and entertainment events.
Coordinate and manage event logistics for signature events, corporate meetings, and daily entertainment.
Track events’ key performance areas and identify items to improve for future events.
Oversee escalated and sensitive volunteer issues and emergencies.
Identify potential volunteers issues and/or emergencies requiring support and/or attention.
Engage and sustain relationships with volunteer groups, and partners with Village departments on matters of mutual importance.
Provide vision and oversee ongoing volunteer retention efforts, including annual appreciation party, holiday party, appreciation week, etc. for over 5,000 volunteers.
Maintain fiscal responsibility (budgeting, payroll, operating expense control) for overall Volunteer Services and Entertainment Departments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OUTSIDE NORMAL WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, crouch, balance, use hands/arms to lift/move objects.
Ability to move/lift to 50 lbs.
Work in outdoor weather conditions.

Demonstrated effective leader with the ability to train, coach and motivate team members
Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage and execute tasks in a dynamic environment
Ability to establish effective working relationships by adjusting approaches to meet the needs of a diverse team
Effectively identifies and analyzes problems. Uses creative solutions to solve problems with varying degrees of information.
Proven experience delivering exceptional customer service.
Must be able to use creative problem-solving skills and demonstrate decisiveness.
Proven ability to maintain an elevated level of confidentiality, tact, professionalism, and integrity
Demonstrated ability to recruit volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to develop and maintain operating budget.
Technological background to manage high end audio/visual commercial equipment.
Ability to communicate, understand, speak, read, write English to communicate with departments/guests/vendor participants.
PC skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access), and payroll software.
Ability to operate a motorized vehicle, including battery-operated golf cart
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Able to work full-time afternoon & evening shifts.
Must meet acceptable attendance and punctuality requirements, which are essential functions for the position.
Bachelor’s Degree in related field, preferred.
10 - 15 years of previous volunteer, entertainment, recreation, and/or event coordination experience.
At least 5 years of experience managing teams.
At least 3 years of experience working with volunteers.
