CARPENTER
Location is: 7061 Grand National Drive, Suite #112, Orlando, FL 32819
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Person with ability to perform functions in all areas of carpentry without supervision, including rough carpentry, trim carpentry, and formwork. A Carpenter will also perform basic labor as required by the site operations manager. This position reports to the Foreman.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
▪ Proficient in blueprint reading and layout. Capable of reading and understanding blueprints, providing quantity take-off, and installing work.
▪ Performs carpentry work with minimal supervision.
▪ Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards and ability to instruct all crewmembers in correct safety procedures (10 hours course desired).
▪ Advanced skills used to promote increased job site productivity.
▪ Ability to identify problems and devise timely and cost-efficient solutions.
▪ Certified in administering First Aid.
▪ Demonstrates aptitude and interest in training others in company’s practices, values, and beliefs.
▪ Demonstrates extensive knowledge of all aspects of form carpentry, i.e., columns, (panelized & hand formed), shear walls, handset form work (aluma beams and scaffolding), free form beams, shoring and reshoring, edge form recesses, flying forms and associated formwork, foundations and grade beams, tie beams and tie columns and knowledge of construction materials necessary for the work.
▪ Accomplished in various forming systems (Symons, Burke, Snap ties, Walters Clamps, etc.)
▪ Demonstrates knowledge of rough and finish carpentry, i.e., framing, cut in roof framing, frame doors and windows, wood header beams, hang pre-hung doors, blocking & bracing, base and casing, fascia and soffit, siding and exterior trim, frame metal studs, and hanging drywall. Capable of machining and handing slab doors including all facets of hardware installation.
▪ Demonstrates basic knowledge of millwork.
▪ Owns and properly uses tools and equipment as specified on the list of tool requirements. ▪ Must be able to lead a crew of helpers and laborers.
▪ Must be able to fill out daily logs, purchase orders and material request forms. ▪ Willingness to travel, as required.
Job Description
▪ Assumes additional responsibilities as directed by the Site Superintendent.
▪ Coordinate with office manager on office policy and procedures and adhere to these policies.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
Prefer five years technical experience or training working as a Carpenter in a construction-related field. Working knowledge of all carpentry tools and hardware required to perform job related duties requested by your supervisor. Excellent communication skills are required including the ability to organize and coordinate group efforts. Physical and mental abilities are frequently required to successfully perform as a carpenter including lifting weights of up to 50 pounds. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have transportation to work sites. Must be available all shifts for possible emergency response. Must be able to satisfy badging requirements and background checks for jobsite.
This is an hourly non-exempt position.
