Job Description:
 
The RSP Specialist will coordinate efforts on the behalf of ONIC to provide quality housing and ‘community building/development’ initiatives that enhance various aspects of our residents’ lives. This position is responsible for providing outreach to residents, guiding, assisting, and implementing activities and programs to support the enrichment of all of ONIC’s residents. The focus of this position is to develop and continue to implement programs, and coordinate initiatives with activities that increase the quality of life of all residents which includes the following: working with youth, adults, seniors, families, and the community at large at various levels. This position requires the ability to assist in the instruction of students in cultural arts and to work with instructors, parents, program partners, and community members in a culturally diverse setting. This position reports to the Resident Services Manager.
 
Work Hours:  Full-Time, hourly, minimum 40 hrs. per week; Monday-Friday, with 4 – 5 nights, occasional weekends and holidays. (schedule is determined by program needs)

Compensation:  $12.50 HR. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off/holidays, and other benefits as outlined in agency employee handbook. 

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS (Other duties may be assigned)

Provide outreach and information, to all residents, engaging them in respective activities Plan, develop, establish, implement, coordinate, and oversee comprehensive resident activities, events and programs as determined in work plans, utilizing data and information to meet required goals and objectives Make every effort to ensure each resident receives professional service. Utilize opportunities to obtain feedback from residents regarding their interests, needs, and satisfaction on our properties. Talk with, engage, and develop a rapport with residents, build relationships to help them to identify, understand, and brain storming solutions for overcoming presenting challenges.  Record keeping and compliance documentation as required (resident information, contact information, and history of activities etc.)  Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and guidelines for participants’ (adult & youth) positive behavior, maintaining safety and order for all activities.  Preparation and implementation of vendor & contractor selection policy Interface /network with all profit and non-profit service/community providers to solicit  Extensive facilitation of team building with all customers (internal, external & management staff)  Supervisory sessions on a regular basis as agreed to review status, progress, for guidance/professional development  Prepare program plan, including goals and objectives Facilitation of activities to ensure that participants are engaged in respective activities and programming  Assist in conducting activities according to program procedures, regulations and rules

Model and share socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as positive reinforcement and effective communication.  Assist in the establishing of clear objectives for all lessons, projects, and activities  Facilitate and assist Instructor/staff with program participants in Learning center programs (e.g. projects, computer labs), using a variety of techniques, create structured environment to reinforce fun learning & meet students' varying needs and interests. (Identify youth behavior issues before escalation)  Meet with parents and guardians with program staff to provide feedback and discuss their children's progress.  Provide other classroom assistance under the direction of art instructors’ including but not limited to:  Assist student(s) with sign-in procedures.  Assist in distributing course materials to student(s) during class.  Assist student(s) prior to class session in transferring from adjacent partnering programs into the PRODIGY cultural arts classes.
 
Education/Training/Experience: 

Experience working with youth   A.A. degree (or equivalent in education and experience) in a related field including but not limited to the fields of education, child development, the arts.  Knowledge of effectively dealing with language barriers and issues of trust.  Awareness of public and private social service providers in the Orlando Metro area.  Ability to assess needs of individuals and groups and to process solutions with them.  Flexibility and creative thinking in a small dynamic organization. Willingness and initiative to get the job done  Ability to take direction, be accountable, as well as possess a goal oriented methodology. Possess effective communication skills and team work approach.
 
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

Knowledge of classroom dynamics.  Knowledge of and ability to apply cultural sensitivity in a classroom setting.  Skills in classroom communications and ability to communicate and relate to youth.  Skills in communication with fellow employees, students, parents, program partners, researchers, and program administrators. Ability to communicate effectively in writing.  Ability to work with student’s grades 1st through 12th.  Ability to work independently.  Ability to understand and apply program procedures, regulations and rules. Ability to interact with co-workers and students effectively in all types of situations.

Proficient typing skills  Computer skills and a knowledge of relevant software packages

This position requires a Livescan Level II Background Screening.

This position requires fingerprinting.

This position requires a child care provider security check as required under Sections 402.305 and 402.3055, Florida Statutes
