Description of Work
This position is responsible for performing general maintenance and servicing of Authority vehicles in a fast-paced environment. This position requires shift work including evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. This position is part of a bargaining unit. Schedules and days off are bid on by seniority.
This position is considered safety-sensitive and subject to the provisions of the Substance Abuse Program Policy for Safety Sensitive Positions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Checks and fills engine oil, transmission fluid and water.
Checks tires for air and tread conditions.
Cleans interior and exterior of buses and support vehicles.
Sweeps and mops buses.
Brushes off seats.
Cleans and removes trash from buses and support vehicles.
Cleans all windows in buses and support vehicles and wipes down entrances.
Drives buses through the bus washer.
Parks buses safely.
Refills fare box with media cards.
Operates Fork Truck as needed.
Completes work orders and other required written and electronic forms.
Operates buses and support vehicles on public roadways and performs vehicle swap-outs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to drive and park a bus.
Ability to pressure wash engines, wheels and other parts of the bus.
Ability to complete Work Orders, Fuel Cards and/or other required paperwork or electronic data entry forms.
Ability to operate upholstery cleaning machine.
Ability to work with chemicals and follow applicable MSDS guidelines.
Ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
Ability to maintain a Florida CDL Class "B" license with airbrakes and a passenger endorsement.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, the public and those doing business with LYNX.
Ability to read, understand and interpret operations and service manuals.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
The functions of this position are primarily performed outdoors under varying weather conditions with exposure to various fuels and other chemical agents. Must be able to work with commercial cleaners and toxic materials. Requires the stamina and ability to stand and fuel vehicles in all weather conditions; bend, stoop, walk, run, scrub, push, stretch, kneel and lift 50 lbs. Requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking and color perception; dexterity in operating equipment.
Minimum Education and Experience
Must have a current and valid Florida CDL Class “B” license with airbrakes and a passenger endorsement.*
Must successfully pass the LYNX CDL Defensive Driving Course.
Must have a valid DOT Medical Card.
High School diploma or GED preferred.
Clean driving record.
* A CDL permit may be accepted if candidate demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and ability to effectively perform the functions of this position (must possess CDL license prior to completion of probationary period.)

Pay Rate: $15.94 per hour, per Collective Bargaining Agreement
