Litigation Paralegal – Insurance Defense
éClat Law LLP has an immediate opening for a litigation paralegal with extensive insurance defense experience.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist attorneys by investigating facts, researching legal precedent, drafting routine or complex legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, affidavits and subpoenas for review. Conduct research to support legal proceedings to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action.
Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes. Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, trails, and conferences. Investigate the factual evidence of a transaction or case to determine causes of action and prepare case accordingly for attorney review. Maintain attorney(s) calendar by planning and scheduling client meetings and teleconferences, attorney meetings, dispositions, couriers, and court reporters; record and monitor court appearance dates, pleadings, filing requirements and related critical deadlines.
Efficiently analyze, organize, and summarize case materials. Create and maintain a case-management database to track status of multiple files. Follow-up on delegated assignments.
Must be highly motivated, detail oriented, work well in a team-based environment, and have excellent communication skills. Position requires excellent time management, scheduling, and organizational skills. Must have at least five years of experience (at least three in insurance defense) and be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & Excel) and related legal programs.
Associate degree or enrolled in Paralegal Studies Program (preferred), Paralegal Certificate (Preferred).
