Youth Contemporary Worship Leader
The Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, a Nonprofit organization, is currently seeking applicants for the following position:
Youth Contemporary Worship Leader
This position’s primary responsibility is to work closely with the Chaplain, Spiritual Life staff, and residents to design and lead creative, engaging, and diverse worship experiences. Secondarily, the Worship and Program Coordinator will support the Chaplain by leading other Spiritual Life programming including Worship Arts and small groups. The Contemporary Worship Leader will work under the supervision of the Chaplain.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
College degree in related field such as: Religion, Social Work, Music or Music Education.
Seminary degree preferred.
Must have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Is comfortable with a Wesleyan/United Methodist understanding of worship and doctrine.
Experience in planning worship services – specifically services for youth and children.
Experience in leading contemporary worship music as well as teaching lay leadership to participate in and lead music.
Proficiency in guitar or piano preferable.
Significant experience with youth and youth ministries.
Knowledgeable of the needs of at-risk youth and children.
Sensitivity to diversity with regards to race, culture, socioeconomic status, sexuality, and gender identity.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate Sunday Morning Worship
Coordinate all logistical elements of the worship service, including sound, tech, liturgy, and volunteer worship leaders
Recruit, develop, coordinate, and lead resident worship leaders, musicians, singers, prayers, liturgists and tech team.
Select and lead songs for service.
Develop praise band with music training and teaching.
Coordinate Spiritual Life Programming
Lead Bible Study/Small Group for elementary through high school aged students – including selecting curriculum.
Organize Worship Arts
Some of the worship arts we have made available to residents include: praise band, praise dance, rap group, music lessons, creative worship, and drama.
The Worship and Program Coordinator will support these areas with her/his gifts or may choose to offer another opportunity for residents to engage.
Assist the Chaplain in organizing service opportunities for residents to put their faith in action.
Assist the Chaplain in providing pastoral care and counseling to residents as needed.
Assist the Chaplain in providing spiritual support for FUMCH staff through prayer, leading devotions at staff meetings, etc.
This position has no supervision responsibilities.
