Performs minor repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles; performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work.

Performs routine building maintenance activities; performs minor plumbing repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets; performs carpentry work required to repair
dents and/or holes in walls and paints walls. Installs tile, when necessary; performs minor electrical work; performs routine maintenance on air conditioners and kitchen appliances.
Participates in annual building inspections, including apartments and grounds.
Maintains outside lightingand security system.
Performs preventative maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles, including the golf cart; monitors and replenishes all fluid levels.
Sweeps, vacuums, strips, mops and waxes floors as necessary.
Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
Drives vehicle in order to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work.
Cleans surroundings after each repair job; ensures that all tools are collected and surroundings are left neat and clean.
Monitors lighting and changes light bulbs when needed, including emergency exit lighting.
Empties trash canister into trash compactor on a daily basis; maintains trash chute area.
Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment.
Performs data entry of completed work orders into the system.
Maintains the grounds to include trimming hedges, blowing leaves, and collecting debris; maintains the beautification of the grounds.
Assists in cleaning the kitchen and dining area.
Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid State Driver's License. Ability to obtain a Commercial Drivers License with passenger endorsement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of general building maintenance practices and procedures.
Ability to learn by method of on-the-job training including ability to follow instructions.
Ability to perform routine and minor repair and maintenance activities of buildings and grounds.
Ability to use and maintain maintenance equipment and tools effectively and in a safe manner.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
Ability and willingness to work outside normal office hours.
Work some evenings, weekends as directed that are different from normally scheduled work hours, in case of emergencies, disasters, special events, coverage of shortages in staff, etc.
Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
Work requires some heavy lifting.
