The Role

The Director of Product Development is responsible for leading the organization in research for new products, product enhancements, and product redesign. The Director will evaluate the potential and practicality of products in development and rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This role will own creation and development of the overall strategic roadmap for new products or variations to existing products to include Edu-Share and CUSO concepts that are currently in progress. Initially, these two opportunities will be the key focus of the role. Ultimately, the Director of Product Development’s key focus is to deliver new ways to diversify and strengthen CCM’s product offerings.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

Perform and oversee product lifecycle management from product concept to launch
Includes research, go/no-go status
Drafting detailed pro-formas and executive summary presentations covering target market, market opportunity, value proposition, product design recommendation, revenue/expense estimates - along with timeline to market.
At times, will be assigned to support or actually lead the launch of concept into market
Create product strategy, product roadmaps, and specifications of product requirements for new product concepts or products
Develop the product vision and strategy—synthesize ideas on strategy, planning, and execution of next generation of products while building consensus and driving execution
Maintain product and market knowledge in assigned areas, including analysis of market trends to drive new concepts, research, and ideas. From this data and input from customers (internal/external), define market opportunities and develop product briefs
Aggressively identify opportunities for improvement and incorporate new product features on an on-going basis in conjunction with operational areas and other product owners
Lead cross-functional teams to realize product concepts and bring them to recommendation phase and/or market
Conduct competitive analysis/benchmarking and develop a strong understanding of stakeholders to drive product development decisions
Act as product evangelist both internally and externally for new product concepts
Develop and manage relationships with customers
Function as the technical contact point where appropriate
Address complaints and resolve problems
Contribute to the exercise and expression of the Ministry’s Christian beliefs
All other duties as assigned

Essential Skills & Abilities

Advanced skills in PowerPoint/Excel; able to create/deliver executive presentations
Knowledge or Certification in process improvement or project management strategies
Strategic planning experience to include budget/pro forma calculations/projections
Leadership ability—proven experience managing and leading high-performing teams

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or similar subject; masters/MBA preferred
5 or more years of direct product management experience and leading other professionals in related fields of health care administration, medical billing, or insurance marketing/sales
Background in higher education or financial services field a plus (Edu-Share concept target market is Christian Higher Education)
