Firefighters at OCFRD are afforded the opportunity to join several elite specialty teams, including:
• Confined Space
• Dive Rescue
• Hazardous Material
• High Angle Rescue
• Honor Guard
• Peer Fitness
• Special Access Climber
• Structural Collapse
• Trench Rescue
• Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV)
• Vehicle Machinery Rescue (VMR)

Opportunity

OCFRD offers the opportunity for both personal and professional development, with ample chance to promote, and/or apply for several elite specialty teams. OCFRD firefighters work in 24-hour rotational shifts to include one 24-hour shift on followed by 48-hours off, equating to an average of 10 shifts per month. OCFRD sponsors all firefighters to obtain their paramedic license within three years of hire, offering a pay incentive upon completion.
