There are three main reasons that a career with Waffle House outpaces most other major companies:

#1 - STABILITY

Waffle House is the largest full-service restaurant chain in the United States, with over 2000 locations that did over 1$ Billion in sales last year.
In the 62 years we have been in operation Waffle House has never laid off a person due to lack of business. Not once. That's an amazing track record that we are proud of, and even more amazing in the economic climate we are in.

#2 - WEALTH BUILDING

Every employee at Waffle House has the opportunity to purchase up to 10% of their salary in Waffle House stock every year starting after their 1st year. This is a privately held stock and not traded on the NYSE or NASDAQ. It is dynamic and stable, meaning that in the 62 years that it has been available to employees it has NEVER gone down in value.
Not once.

Additionally, at every management level you are awarded stock options.
When you become a unit manager you are given $14,100 in stock options that vest in 10 years. When you become a district manager you get $40,000 more, and when you become a division manager you get $70,000 more.
Additionally, after three years you are given 5% of your salary in stock options EVERY year.

The long and short of it is that a manager who become a division and stayed with the company for 25 years and fully invested in the stock program, assuming a 7-10% rate of return, would be a Millionaire.

That's not a bad deal.

#3 - RAPID ADVANCEMENT

The average district manager was a unit manager for less than 24 months.
The average division manager was a district less than 4 years. And, that is over the last 20 years. But, recently that has accelerated due to a) A major growth initiative - we are adding a new store around every 6 days;
b) recently we bought back close to 400 franchise units and this has dramatically increased the pace we are promoting qualified people.
