School of Performing Arts:
The School of Performing Arts is part of the College of Arts and Humanities and comprises the Music and Theatre programs with more than 100 faculty and staff serving more than 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students earning degrees in the performing arts as well as thousands of students from other majors across the university taking music, theatre and dance classes. It produces outstanding practitioners, educators, and scholars in Music and Theatre while fostering a strong relationship between the community and the artists.
The Opportunity
The Theatre Arts Technician II position will serve as the head of electrics and lighting support for the Theatre UCF production season and as the lead in the shop for all electrics-related matters, including teaching electrics classes to students. The person will mentor lab students, guide interested students in their journey through the design program with a focus on lighting and electrics, and also oversee our limited video programs and services. The person will oversee all aspects of the lighting equipment, installation and removal, hanging lighting plots, attending technical rehearsals, and during our Celebration of the Arts, go daily to Dr. Phillips Center to oversee lighting activities in that multi-space venue.

Responsibilities:
Supervise students and teach processes related to lighting, video, and safety.
Teach students to create special effects.
Supervise Students during lab hours.
Maintain and categorize inventory.
Manage load-in, hang, focus, wiring, connecting, running and breaking down of lighting and electrics for Theatre UCF shows and others as assigned.
Perform needed safety checks and routine maintenance.
Oversee video work for productions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field with at least 2 to 5 years of professional experience.
Teaching experience, at least one year in higher education, or secondary education.
Ability to oversee video programs.
Theatrical lighting is preferred but general lighting experience in other mediums will be considered.
