Annual Salary is $31,731 to $33,714 commensurate with education and experience exceeding the minimum required qualifications.

Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION:

Performs skilled trade work at the journeyman level in the electrical maintenance and repair of buildings, systems, and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Installs, maintains and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment, fixtures, outlets, panels, etc. Requires ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
2. Installs and repairs wiring.  Requires ability to work in enclosed spaces and climb ladders.
3. Installs and lays out electrical conduits. Requires ability to read and understand electrical circuits and diagrams.
4. Conducts monthly/annual inspections of electrical safety equipment such as emergency and exit lighting, and annual infrared inspections. Requires ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
5. Reviews, researches, and orders electrical parts.
6. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate concerns.
7. Secures parts from vendors, taking into consideration availability, cost, product value, warranty periods, and ease of installation.
8. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
2. A minimum of four years of experience in the electrical trade at the journeyman level.
3. Valid Florida driver’s license.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. State Electrician's License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES (KSAs):

1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
2. Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.
3. Knowledge of standard electrical equipment, materials and tools and electrical safety procedures
4. Ability to troubleshoot and rectify complex electrical problems to the component level.
5. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
6. Computer skills, including with MS Office.
7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
8. Committed to working in a multicultural environment. 
              
WORK ENVIRONMENT and SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

1. May be required to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
2. May be assigned to various campus locations.
3. Works inside and outside with exposure to various weather conditions.             
4. Handles hazardous materials and equipment.
5. Exposure to voltages up to 480 volts.
6. Must wear protective gear when required.
