Generic Resumes Don’t Get Noticed by Recruiters

Christian HELP Employment and Resource Center • May 6, 2025

Career Coaching Tip: Generic resumes don’t get noticed by recruiters or pass through an Applicant Tracking System.

Here are helpful ways to get noticed!

  • Tailor your resume to each job by using keywords from the job description — especially in the top third of the page.
  • Focus on measurable results, not just tasks. Instead of “Managed volunteers,” say “Coordinated 30+ volunteers weekly to support 200+ clients.”
  • Keep it clean and easy to scan — avoid long paragraphs and fancy fonts.
