Overview
The System Administrator maintains and operates the Comptrollers computer systems. Work involves installing and troubleshooting software on servers, PCs and other computer systems. The Systems Administrator controls user access, installs and upgrades software, works with vendors and IT to resolve IT related issues. This position reports directly to the Information Technology Assistant Manager.
Representative Duties

Maintains the Comptroller’s Computer Systems.
Maintains security by managing user IDs, passwords, and e-mail accounts.
Plans and schedules upgrades, enhancements, and installation of computer systems hardware and software.
Implements IT Policy, procedures and configuration standards to safeguard systems and data.
Works with IT staff and end users to resolve computer system hardware and software issues.
Makes use of technical resources, to research problems, obtain upgrades and fixes, and monitor technical trends.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
TRAINING AND EDUCATION
Three years’ experience in an IT Helpdesk or Systems Administration role and/or completion of a relevant IT certifications.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND/OR SKILLS
In-depth knowledge of Windows-based applications, including the ability to interpret and resolve system errors.
Ability to implement, install, test, and troubleshoot applications software.
Ability to work flexible hours, depending upon department's needs.
Demonstrates reliable work habits.
Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
Ability to adjust readily to changes in procedures, practices, and/or assignments.
Ability to effectively plan, organize, prioritize and complete work assignments/projects.
Ability to function either independently or within a team, depending on the work assignment or project.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, managers, and the public.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with peers, managers, and the public, on both individual and group levels.
Ability to lift and move 20-pound cartons.
Ability to analyze problems with detail and accuracy, keep complex records, assemble and organize data, and prepare reports from such data.
Excellent customer service skills for application support.
Preferences
TRAINING AND EDUCATION
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND/OR SKILLS
Familiarity with Orange County Government organization.

Must successfully pass background investigation. The office is a non-tobacco use employer.

Starting Salary Range: $27.69 - $34.61
