Position type: 11 month position (Exempt)

students who are seeking a new beginning.

Position Summary

This job description is not a stand alone job description, but a rider to the NBHS Teacher job description.
The New Beginning High School College and Career Teacher is responsible for supervising, educating
and supporting students to help them accomplish learning benchmarks by applying a blended learning
approach that combines traditional classroom instruction with online/hybrid instruction.

Key Responsibilities

● Conduct academic and vocational assessments to assist customers in post-graduation options.
● Monitor graduation requirements and academic progress and intervene when risk is evident.
● Research and compile information on occupational, educational, and marketplace data to be a
resource for customers (e.g., scholarship and financial aid processes).
● Develop and maintain relationships with employers, community resources, and organizations.
● Develop and promote paid employment, volunteer, on-the-job training, and apprenticeship
positions for customers.
● Administer Microsoft Office Certification Program.
● Teach life skills, employability and business classes to assist customers in preparing for career
success.
● Work in collaboration with the Student Success Coach in support of customers on campus in
pursuit of acceptance into institutions of higher learning or employment.
● Plan and conduct programming that focuses on the full customer experience ranging from campus
activities to resume and job-skills development.
● Provide excellent customer service.
● Instruct and guide in general knowledge preparation for ACT/SAT/CPT.
● Coordinate and participate in college visits with the Student Success Coach.
● Conduct home visits of enrolled seniors to engage with them in future planning and problem
solving.
● Serve as coordinator of graduation activities and programs for NBHS.
● Assist in monitoring and data collection of senior graduation progress.
● Meet with the DAP weekly to review customer academic plans.
● Monitor student progress for virtual learning by using multiple SIS systems.
● Support school Mission by assisting with home visits.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

● Conduct annual review and propose appropriate updates to the College and Career Teacher
Reference & Procedures Manual.

● Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
● Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate in Business Education 6-12 (multiple certifications preferred)
● A minimum of 2 years secondary classroom experience (preferred)
● Bilingual/bi-literate (preferred)
● Basic knowledge of career education curriculum and programs
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Background check and fingerprinting clearance
● Evidence of ongoing professional development
● Knowledge of applicable computer software and hardware process applications such as
spreadsheets, word-processing, database and operating systems, and/or presentation software
● Valid Florida driver's license, reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance

Key Competencies

Ability to coordinate work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Ability to monitor
and motivate students and peers. Ability to establish partnerships with post-secondary institutions and
businesses to support student-focused initiatives. Ability to work with customers, internal and external
contacts, and with the public. Able to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and
facilitate group discussion in support of the NBHS Mission and Vision. Desire to serve students in an
above and beyond mentality. Periodically checks emails and phone messages after hours and on the
weekend. Urgent work-related email and phone messages should be answered after 1-2 hours of receipt.

Physical Environment

Requires working indoors in an environmentally controlled office setting. Requires sitting for the majority
of the day. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking and 40% standing. Requires working
indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. May require working outdoors as well, with exposure to
outdoor elements including weather changes, foliage, insects, etc. Requires sitting, standing and the
ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds. This position
may require travel..
