NATURE OF WORK:

Performs specialized work in the False Alarm Program for the Emergency Communications section of the Police department. Employees assigned to this classification collect and analyze reports, review and determine which false alarms are billable, and issue letters, warning notices, and invoices. Works closely with Code Enforcement, Patrol, Crime Prevention, government officials, and alarm companies to address and combat false alarm issues and investigates and responds to all complaints regarding the False Alarm Reduction Program. Works with alarm companies to ensure compliance with current state statutes and performs security surveys and site visits to resolve issues. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Communications Assistant Manager by established departmental policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate required with minimum of two (2) years experience in dispatching, Teletype operations and complaint desk required. Experience in bookkeeping preferred. Knowledge of CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) and Microsoft Office required. A certified Florida Crime Prevention Practitioner and a Florida Crime Prevention through Environmental Design Practitioner certificate are preferred. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Must pass police background investigation which includes polygraph examination.
