Representative Duties
Maintaining nearly 15,000 acres, the Orange County Parks and Recreation Division operates 109 parks, trails, boat ramps and facilities, including 14 recreation centers. In addition, our parks provide space for citizens, families, and visitors to enjoy and explore the beautiful outdoors, and to participate in activities ranging from camping, fishing, youth and adult sports, senior activities, youth enrichment programs, and picnics. Orange County Parks and Recreation also offers state-of-the-art fitness centers, as well as arts, culture and education programs, and a full calendar of year-round special events.
Representative Duties
This position leads employees and performs a wide variety of skilled and technical work in Park operations. An employee in this position is responsible for insuring that safety standards are maintained, performing required inspections of devices or programs, maintaining records, preparing reports and directing and/or implementing plans of park development. This is a skilled operations and maintenance position.
Plan work, organize and lead Park Specialists day-to-day functions.
Works closely with Site Supervisor to coordinate maintenance of grounds and amenities.
Maintains irrigation systems and performs landscaping, grounds and building maintenance skilled trades.
Operates specialized equipment, makes minor adjustments and performs preventative maintenance on equipment, depending on area of assignment.
May be responsible for providing public service by explaining parking policies and providing information about the park.
Assists Park patrons.
Performs administrative duties as necessary.
Performs other related duties or tasks as assigned or required
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and three years of progressively responsible experience in any combination of the following areas: park operations, grounds maintenance, building/facility maintenance or janitorial/custodial; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Parks and Recreation or a closely related field and one year of the specified experience. An equivalent combination of education or experience may be substituted.
Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License
Preferences
Building and Grounds Maintenance
Experience in Athletic Turf & Field Maintenance
Basic Mechanical Knowledge to include Tractor and Bush Hog/Batwing Experience

Salary placement will be based on experience, qualification and LIUNA bargain agreement
Salary range $17.82 - $23.05 Per hour
