Job Summary
Responsible for the coordination of all activities related to the Nursing Skills and Simulation Labs. Collaborates with all faculty to teach, monitor and evaluate student psychomotor skills and simulation activities. Teaches content in collaboration with course instructors.
Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s core values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating and Celebrating.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborates with faculty in the development and implementation of the nursing curriculum for the nursing skills lab and simulation lab experiences.
Provides administrative oversight to the nursing skills lab faculty.
Ensures compliance with accreditation standards.
Assists in recruiting, hiring, and orientation of qualified skills lab instructors.
Provides input to the Director of ASN Program regarding budgetary, teaching and planning needs for the skills lab.
Collaborates with faculty regarding lab demonstrations, lab testing, standardized testing and remediation testing.
Coordinates the lab and simulation schedules for all courses in the Nursing Department.
Orders and maintains supplies for the skills and simulation lab.
Maintains current listing of all inventory holdings and completes an annual audit as per college guidelines.
In collaboration with the faculty, sets up Skills Fairs / Boot Camps each semester.
Functions as clinical instructor as needed.
Assists students in developing proficiency in psychomotor nursing skills.
Teaches course sections as assigned.
Upholds all policies and procedures of LSSC.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge and experience in using advanced technology equipment, including simulators.
Participate in simulation training programs.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function as part of a team.
Ability to demonstrate the four College Service Excellence Standards of respect, competence, responsiveness and collaboration when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members.
Minimum Qualifications & Education
Master’s degree in Nursing
Doctorate in Nursing preferred.
Two (2) most recent years of medical/surgical clinical experience
