Position Goal

Assist provider through greeting, registering and directing patients. Perform a variety of administrative functions that ensure charges are collected, posted and charged as necessary.

Position Responsibilities:

Greet and register patients

Familiarity with what the provider requires for a productive clinic.

Review and maintain charts to ensure completeness.

Schedule return appointments and maintain patient chart

Constant monitoring of schedules and patient flow during clinic to ensure maximum efficiency/organization.

Collect co-pays and deductibles

Prepare daily balance sheets

Review and edit daily bank deposits and deposit report

Preparation of daily cashiers report

Post daily charges to patient accounts

Enter daily charge data and balance daily transactions

Enter/update patient demographic data

Distribute work and school excuses to patient as needed

Track “no show” appointments

Schedule initial appointments

Verify insurance benefits/eligibility and document in the computer system

Verify/obtain referral numbers or authorizations for upcoming appointments

Scan scripts and reports into the EMR system

Print off new scripts and provider schedules at the beginning of the day

Answer telephone

Send reports to providers secretaries and or medical assistants

Add notes to appointment to help keep providers informed

Experience:

Required:

Six (6) months experience in medical office setting.

Education:

Required:

High School or equivalent

Special Qualifications:

Required:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to work independently.
Knowledge of the healthcare field and medical specialty.
This position may require travel to and from satellite clinics as assigned. Please note, if assigned for travel, this position will require a valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record upon hire (MVR will be screened on an annual basis).

Knowledge of AthenaNet
Knowledge of medical terminology
